Plateable Cryopreserved Human Hepatocytes

XenoTech routinely checks each lot of cyropreserved human hepatocytes to ascertain their ability to attach to collagen substratum and to respond to the prototypical inducers, omeprazole and rifampin. Each lot that meets our performance criteria is characterized to determine fold induction of CYP1A2 and 3A4.

A photomicrograph of the plated cells, taken prior to treatment, is featured on each datasheet; an example from a representative lot is shown here.

Packaging

XenoTech's cryopreserved human hepatocytes are available in Assured Minimum Yield (AMY) Categories, so you can choose the number of viable cells that you need for your experiment.

Category Assured Minimum Yield per Vial*

Safety, Handling, and Storage

Plateable cryopreserved hepatocytes should be stored in liquid nitrogen vapor (-160°C or colder). They should be thawed and plated in accordance with our thawing protocol (PDF), which is shipped with your hepatocytes.

Upon thawing, cryopreserved human hepatocytes remain viable and may be used in suspension for short-term drug metabolism experiments (we recommend incubations no longer than 4 hours). When cryopreserved human hepatocytes are thawed, isolated, and suspended under appropriate conditions, they can be used to evaluate the metabolism of drug candidates.
