Our pooled freshly plated Sprague-Dawley rat hepatocytes come with Matrigel overlay in a variety of multi-well formats. These plated hepatocytes are ideal for the study of long term metabolism (greater than 4 hours) or evaluation of drug candidates as inducers of CYP enzymes.

For short term metabolism studies (less than 4 hours), our pooled fresh suspended Sprague-Dawley rat hepatocytes are ideal.

Plated Products
Collagen-coated plates with Matrigel overlay are available in the following formats:

    •    6-well plate
    •    12-well plate
    •    24-well plate
    •    96-well plate

Suspensions

Our fresh rat hepatocytes are available per million cells with a 10 million cell minimum order.

Safety, Handling, and Storage

All procedures should be carried out in a biosafety containment hood when possible. This will not only reduce the risk of contamination of the cells, but it will also minimize contact with potentially hazardous material.

Plated Products

Plated product will be sent at ambient temperature and should be stored at 37°C at 95% humidity with 5% CO2 atmosphere.

Included with each plated order:

    •    Datasheet with picture of the cells prior to shipping
    •    Sterile replacement lid for each plate ordered
    •    Instructions for media replacement

Needed before you begin:

    •    Personal protective equipment (gloves, lab coat, protective eyewear)
    •    Biological safety cabinet
    •    Aspirating device (i.e. pipette, vacuum aspirator)
    •    Incubator (95% humidity, 5% CO2, 37° C)
    •    Refrigerator or equivalent storage chamber (2-8° C)
    •    Prototypical inducers and DMSO (or applicable solvent control)
    •    Cell culture media with supplements (XenoTech Product Number K2300 recommended)

Suspensions

Suspension will be sent on wet ice and should be used on the day of receipt.

Included with each suspension order:

    •    Datasheet
    •    Instructions for cell recovery and resuspension

We do not recommend that our fresh hepatocytes in suspension be used in a plated format.
